Why NIV content is limited
DWELLTYPE currently includes up to 500 NIV verses — the limit Biblica's New International Version® permits to quote without separate written permission. This is a voluntary limit we've set to stay within that allowance, not a technical restriction. There is no equivalent limit for the King James Version or the Berean Standard Bible, both of which are in the public domain — DWELLTYPE currently includes the same 500-verse selection across all three translations as a curation choice, not a licensing one.
For online use specifically, Biblica requires that NIV Scripture remain a non-commercial, advertisement-free resource — it may not be sold, offered for sale, or displayed alongside commercial advertising. DWELLTYPE has no ads, subscriptions, or paid access of any kind; the site is supported entirely through donations, in keeping with this requirement.
